Dorado is a planning tool for high school students — course planning, career research, extracurricular and application tracking, scholarship search, and an AI assistant that can answer questions using your own data. These terms apply whenever you create an account or use the service.
You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure. Creating an account is free and takes no card.
The planning tools — courses, college search and chancing, scholarships, careers, plans, and calendars — are free with your account. The Dorado assistant is a paid subscription, currently $10/month, with a two-week free trial for new subscribers. We won’t charge you for the assistant before it is available to you. Billing is handled entirely by Stripe.
Automatic renewal. When your free trial ends, your subscription begins and renews automatically every month at the then-current price (currently $10), charged to the payment method you gave at checkout, until you cancel.
Cancelling. You can cancel anytime from Billing (choose Manage billing). To avoid being charged when your trial ends, cancel before it does. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you’ve already paid for (or at the end of your trial), and you keep access until then. We don’t provide refunds for partial billing periods.
If a payment was made for a student under 18 without a parent or guardian’s approval, the parent or guardian can email support@dorado.school and we’ll look into it.

The assistant is a planning aid, not a substitute for a school counselor, financial advisor, or admissions professional. It can be wrong. Decisions about your courses, applications, and finances are yours to make — treat its answers as a starting point, not the final word.
The chance bands and percentages Dorado shows for colleges — like “Reach · ~9%” — are statistical estimates. They are calculated from the information you enter and from public data about each college’s admitted students, and that data can be out of date or incomplete. They are not predictions, guarantees, or advice, and a real admission decision depends on much more than any estimate can see. Please don’t use them as the only reason to apply, or not to apply, anywhere. Check each college’s own website for current deadlines, requirements, and costs.
What you enter into Dorado is yours. See the Privacy Policy for how it’s handled. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from Account settings.
You can stop using Dorado and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Dorado is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We work to keep the service accurate and available, but we’re not liable for decisions made based on information in the app — including college admissions outcomes, financial outcomes, or missed deadlines. Nothing in Dorado is professional counseling, legal, or financial advice.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@dorado.school so we can try to fix it informally. A dispute that isn’t resolved that way will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Sacramento County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it in your local courts. Nothing in these terms takes away a consumer right that the law doesn’t allow to be waived.
If these terms change in a way that materially affects your use of Dorado, we’ll notify account holders before the change takes effect.
