Auburn University at Montgomery is a public university in Alabama's capital city, part of the Auburn University System but operating as its own distinct, largely commuter campus rather than a branch of the main Auburn campus experience. It serves a diverse student body drawn heavily from the Montgomery metro area.
Its location steps from the state capitol and Alabama's government offices makes public administration, political science, and criminal justice natural strengths, with real internship access to state government. Nursing, education, and business are also large, well-established programs.
As a mostly commuter institution, campus life and student culture are less centered on residential traditions than at Auburn's main campus, and the state-government internship pipeline is a genuine, distinctive advantage of the Montgomery location.
