Saint Leo University is a Catholic Benedictine institution on a lakeside campus north of Tampa, Florida, one of the state's oldest Catholic colleges, though most of its current students never set foot on that campus.
Business, criminal justice, and education are the traditional mainstays of the curriculum, taught with a values-oriented Benedictine framing even within professional programs.
The residential campus has a traditional, small Catholic-college feel, but it coexists with one of the country's larger online and military-education operations — Saint Leo built an extensive network of education centers and online programs serving active-duty military and adult students, so the university's actual student population is spread far beyond Florida.
Admissions for the residential campus is relatively accessible, while the online and military-education pathways have their own separate, more flexible enrollment processes geared toward adult and active-duty students.
A prospective residential student should understand that Saint Leo's institutional scale comes mostly from its online and military arm, not its Florida campus population — the on-the-ground experience is smaller and more traditional than the university's overall size suggests.
