Albertus Magnus College is a small Catholic college in the Dominican intellectual tradition, set in a residential New Haven neighborhood a couple of miles from Yale. It serves a mix of traditional-age undergraduates and a substantial population of adult and evening students, giving it a different day-to-day feel than a typical residential four-year college.
Business, criminal justice, and art therapy are among its more recognized offerings, with art therapy in particular a distinctive program not commonly found at small colleges. The adult and evening programs are built around working students' schedules as a core part of the institution's mission.
Admission is accessible rather than highly selective, and the adult-learner programs in particular emphasize flexible pathways for students returning to school after time in the workforce.
Prospective students should know campus culture is split between a traditional undergraduate population and a large adult and evening cohort, which shapes social life and class scheduling differently than at a conventional residential college.
