Overview
Freed-Hardeman University is a private university in Henderson, Tennessee, affiliated with the Churches of Christ. Its rural, close-knit setting and its religious mission are both central to the student experience — daily chapel and Bible coursework are part of every student's schedule, regardless of major.
Academics
Education, ministry, and pre-professional programs are the university's strongest areas, feeding graduates into Church of Christ congregations, Christian schools, and health and pre-law tracks with a values-based framing throughout the curriculum.
Campus & student life
The town of Henderson is small and rural, situated between Memphis and Nashville, and campus life is correspondingly close-knit, with much of student social life organized around chapel, Bible study, and campus ministry activities rather than a larger surrounding town.
Getting in
Applicants should expect the religious mission to be a real part of the admissions conversation — Freed-Hardeman is upfront that daily chapel and required Bible coursework apply to every student, and fit with that expectation matters as much as academic credentials.
Worth knowing
Students weighing Freed-Hardeman should know the religious commitment described in its materials is not nominal — chapel is daily and Bible courses are required coursework for every major, not an elective add-on.
