Adler University, based in downtown Chicago with an additional campus in Vancouver, carries forward the legacy of psychiatrist Alfred Adler and his theory of individual psychology. Its mission is built explicitly around socially responsible practice, and its programs in clinical psychology, counseling, community psychology, and public health all foreground social-justice-oriented training over a generic clinical curriculum.
The university is overwhelmingly graduate, with doctoral and master's programs in clinical psychology, counseling, and related fields built around field placements in community mental-health settings, schools, and social-service agencies. The small undergraduate offering runs as a completion-style program for students finishing a bachelor's degree rather than a traditional four-year experience, and even there the coursework carries Adler's emphasis on community engagement and social equity.
Graduates go mainly into licensed clinical practice, community mental-health agencies, school counseling, and public-health and social-service organizations, and the university's alumni network is concentrated among practicing clinicians and counselors in the Chicago and Vancouver areas rather than a broad cross-industry base.
