Erskine College is a small Christian liberal-arts college in Due West, South Carolina, affiliated with the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church since its 1839 founding. It is one of the smallest and most tightly denominational colleges of its kind still operating as originally chartered, and it is the center of life in its tiny town.
Erskine has a stronger record in pre-med and the sciences than its size would suggest, with close faculty mentoring supporting students headed toward medical school and other health professions. The adjoining Erskine Theological Seminary gives religion and ministry-track students access to graduate-level courses and faculty not typically available at a college this small.
Due West is a very small town, and the college is effectively the center of community life there, with little separation between campus and town. Campus culture is close-knit and shaped by shared religious life, with chapel and denominational traditions woven into the calendar.
Admissions are holistic and mission-driven, with fit for a small, faith-centered community weighed alongside academic record.
The direct connection to Erskine Theological Seminary on the same campus is unusual for a college this size, and it benefits students in religion, ministry-track, and some pre-professional programs through access to seminary faculty.
