Saint Elizabeth University is a private Catholic university in Morristown, New Jersey, founded by the Sisters of Charity as one of the state's first colleges for women and now coeducational. It sits on a wooded suburban campus within reach of New York City.
Nursing, education, nutrition and dietetics, and social work are the school's established strengths — health and helping-profession fields that reflect the Sisters of Charity's founding mission of service.
The campus is small and quiet, set on wooded grounds that feel removed from the surrounding suburban New Jersey area despite the proximity to New York. Its small size means students in the same program generally know each other well.
Given its founding as a women's college, Saint Elizabeth still carries something of that legacy in campus culture even though it now enrolls men, and its health and human-services program cluster is a more coherent institutional identity than a broad liberal arts catalog would be.
