Overview
Stillman College is a small, private historically Black college in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, founded in 1876 with support from the Presbyterian Church. It has long served as an educational anchor for Black students in west Alabama, and its small size is central to its identity; the college is intentionally close-knit rather than trying to compete with larger HBCUs on program breadth.
Academics
Education, business, and the sciences are the main professional and pre-professional tracks, built on a liberal arts foundation. Class sizes are small, and the college emphasizes individual attention and mentorship, particularly for first-generation college students, who make up a substantial share of the student body.
