Niagara University is a Vincentian Catholic university a few minutes from Niagara Falls, on a ridge above the Niagara River in western New York. Its Vincentian mission — a Catholic order historically focused on service to the poor — shapes campus culture as much as any single academic program does.
The College of Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management is Niagara's signature program, taking direct advantage of the tourism economy generated by the falls next door, and education and business are other longstanding strengths with deep regional placement networks. Class sizes are small, consistent with the university's overall scale.
The Niagara Falls tourism corridor gives hospitality and tourism students real-world proximity to their field of study, while Toronto is close enough for an easy day trip, giving the campus an international-border feel unusual for an upstate New York school. Service to the poor, central to the Vincentian mission, shows up in campus-wide service programs and a values-oriented undergraduate culture.
Niagara reviews applications holistically, and interest in its hospitality and tourism programs or its Vincentian service mission can be a genuine differentiator in an application.
The hospitality and tourism program's direct link to the Niagara Falls economy is a real, tangible advantage — students get placement and internship opportunities most hospitality programs elsewhere have to manufacture artificially.
