Overview

Evangel University is a private Christian university in Springfield, Missouri, affiliated with the Assemblies of God, whose national headquarters is also based in Springfield. That proximity gives the university a close institutional relationship with the denomination it serves.

Academics

Ministry and theology programs are the university's historic core, training pastors and church workers directly connected to the Assemblies of God pipeline, while education, business, and communication have grown into solid, more broadly applicable programs alongside them.

Campus & student life

Pentecostal worship and practice, including an emphasis on spiritual gifts and expressive worship style, shape campus religious life in a way distinct from the quieter evangelical culture at many other Christian colleges.

Worth knowing

Being headquartered in the same city as the Assemblies of God itself gives Evangel students unusually direct access to denominational leadership and ministry placement networks compared to Christian colleges located away from their sponsoring denomination's center.
