East-West University is a small private college in Chicago's South Loop, founded to serve urban, first-generation, and working students with career-focused programs in business, computer science, and general studies. It operates more as a commuter, career-launching institution than a traditional residential college.
Programs are built around direct career preparation in business and computing fields, with a curriculum designed for students balancing coursework with jobs or family responsibilities rather than a broad liberal-arts sequence.
The South Loop location puts students in the middle of downtown Chicago, but the college itself has limited traditional campus infrastructure — no sprawling quad or large residence system — since it was built around commuter students from the city's neighborhoods rather than a residential draw from outside the region.
