Manchester University is a private university in North Manchester, Indiana, affiliated with the Church of the Brethren, one of the three historic peace churches. That heritage shows up most directly in its peace studies program, the first undergraduate program of its kind in the country.
Alongside peace studies, Manchester has built out professional programs including a pharmacy school and athletic training, plus a well-regarded accounting program — a mix that pairs the university's values-driven liberal-arts identity with genuinely career-focused graduate and professional tracks.
North Manchester is a small town, and campus life is close-knit, with the Church of the Brethren's tradition of service and nonviolence still visible in campus culture even though the student body is religiously diverse.
The pharmacy program is a real differentiator for a university this size, giving Manchester a professional-school pipeline uncommon among small Brethren-affiliated colleges, alongside its distinctive and long-standing peace studies identity.
