LSU Alexandria is a regional campus of the LSU system in central Louisiana, offering an affordable, access-oriented four-year degree path just south of the city of Alexandria.
Nursing and allied health, education, and business are the established programs, taught in a practical, career-oriented format aimed at a largely local student population.
The campus is rural and commuter-heavy, with most students living locally rather than in traditional dormitory housing, and student life is correspondingly more low-key than at a large residential university.
Admission is accessible, consistent with the campus's access-oriented mission within the LSU system.
Nursing and allied-health graduates place steadily with central Louisiana hospitals and clinics, and the campus serves as an affordable stepping stone to an LSU-system degree for many first-generation and local students.
Students should know LSUA is a distinctly smaller, commuter-oriented campus compared to LSU's flagship in Baton Rouge, with a different mission and student experience despite sharing the LSU name.
