Overview
Public university along the Fox River in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, between Milwaukee and Green Bay, and one of the larger regional campuses in the University of Wisconsin system. UW-Oshkosh serves primarily in-state students seeking an accessible, moderately sized public university experience, without the highly specialized signature program that distinguishes some of its sister UW system campuses.
Academics
Nursing, education, and business are the university's most established and popular programs, each serving clear regional workforce demand across east-central Wisconsin. Programs are generally applied and career-oriented, and the university has built its reputation primarily around producing graduates who go on to work within the state, particularly in Wisconsin's health care and K-12 education systems.
Campus & student life
The Oshkosh campus sits along the Fox River in a mid-sized Wisconsin city, offering a residential campus experience at an accessible cost. Athletics compete at the Division III level, and campus life follows a fairly traditional regional-university pattern, without the singular defining feature — like Stevens Point's natural resources program — that distinguishes some other UW system campuses.
Getting in
Admission is accessible and credential-based, consistent with the University of Wisconsin system's regional campuses. UW-Oshkosh draws primarily from within the state, and nursing and education applicants are common, often specifically interested in the university's established regional reputation in those two fields.
