Quinnipiac University is a private university in Hamden, Connecticut, at the foot of Sleeping Giant mountain, best known nationally for the Quinnipiac Poll, a widely cited independent political and public-opinion survey run out of the university.
Health sciences and nursing are major strengths, supported by dedicated health-sciences facilities, alongside strong communications and business programs. The curriculum leans professional and pre-professional rather than heavily theoretical.
The campus is polished and suburban, with a relatively traditional residential college experience. Division I ice hockey is the clear marquee sport and a genuine focal point of campus spirit, drawing attention well beyond what the university's size would suggest.
Admissions rewards strong preparation in the health-sciences and communications tracks specifically, and the university has built visibility well beyond Connecticut through its polling operation and athletics.
The Quinnipiac Poll gives students in political science, communications, and journalism a genuine, functioning research operation to be involved with, not just a classroom exercise — a distinctive resource among schools of its size.
