Central Methodist University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the traditional residential campus in Fayette, Missouri, a small United Methodist-affiliated college town roughly midway between Columbia and Kansas City, functioning as CMU's main undergraduate campus distinct from the university's adult and online divisions.
Music and education are long-standing strengths, and athletic training has become a notable professional program. A large share of students participate in athletics or a performing ensemble, giving the curriculum a practical, activity-connected character across departments.
Fayette is a genuinely small college town, and campus life is correspondingly centered on the university itself. Athletics (the Eagles compete across a wide range of sports) and music ensembles absorb much of student time and campus identity, more so than at a typical small college of similar size.
Central Methodist admits holistically, and the athletics and music programs function as meaningful recruiting and scholarship channels alongside standard academic review.
The combination of a broad varsity athletics program and strong music ensembles means an unusually high share of students here are recruited athletes or performing musicians, which shapes daily campus rhythm around practices and rehearsals.
