The Metropolitan Campus, in San Juan, is the flagship and largest campus of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico system, the island's largest private university network. It carries the system's Protestant ecumenical founding but functions today as a broad, comprehensive university serving a large, mostly local student body, with instruction conducted primarily in Spanish.
Business, education, health sciences, and technology programs make up the bulk of enrollment, reflecting the campus's role as a workforce-oriented university for the San Juan metro area rather than a small liberal-arts institution. Many programs are designed with working adults in mind.
Evening, weekend, and flexible scheduling are common across programs, reflecting how many students balance coursework with jobs or family responsibilities — this is a commuter, working-student institution more than a traditional residential college.
