UW-Parkside Flex is the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's competency-based online format, letting working adults progress through UW coursework in fields like business and information technology at their own pace rather than on a fixed semester schedule.
Instead of counting seat time, Flex assesses mastery directly — students demonstrate competency in a subject and move on, which can let someone with relevant work experience finish requirements faster than a conventional course would allow.
The program uses subscription-style pricing, where a student pays for a set period of access rather than by the credit hour, a structure that rewards fast, self-directed progress far more than it suits someone wanting a traditional in-person college experience with classmates and campus life.
RequiredMinimum of 17 high school units (no subject-by-subject breakdown published on school's site)
