Concordia University Ann Arbor is a small Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod university on a campus that was once a private estate along the Huron River, on the edge of Ann Arbor, Michigan. It operates within the Concordia University System, historically linked with Concordia University Wisconsin, and shares some administrative and academic ties with that campus. Confessional Lutheran identity shapes campus life, though the university enrolls students well beyond the LCMS community.
Nursing, education, and business are the largest programs, reflecting the practical, career-oriented bent typical of Concordia system schools. Bible and theology coursework is part of the general education requirement for all students, regardless of major, consistent with the university's confessional mission.
The wooded, river-adjacent campus is a quieter counterpoint to downtown Ann Arbor, which is close enough for students to reach easily while living in a smaller, more traditionally residential setting. Chapel services and other faith-oriented programming are a regular part of the weekly campus rhythm.
Being minutes from a major university town gives students access to Ann Arbor's restaurants, events, and University of Michigan-adjacent culture without the scale or cost of attending a large research university.
