Eastern Washington University is a public university in Cheney, a small town just outside Spokane, serving as one of the main access-oriented four-year options for Washington's Inland Northwest.
Health sciences, education, business, and criminal justice are its most established programs, and its proximity to Spokane's growing hospital and medical-education sector supports clinical placements and health-career pipelines.
The Cheney campus is small and close-knit, with Spokane's larger amenities and job market a short drive away. Eastern's football team plays on a distinctive red artificial-turf field, one of the only ones in the country, which has become the university's best-known campus landmark and a point of regional pride. Athletics compete in the Big Sky Conference.
Admission is accessible, with the university serving as a primary regional option for Inland Northwest students.
