Regent University is a private Christian university in Virginia Beach that teaches every program from an explicitly biblical worldview, founded by broadcaster and religious leader Pat Robertson. It shares its Georgian-style campus with the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), reinforcing close ties between the university and evangelical media, and its relatively small residential undergraduate population sits alongside a far larger graduate and online student body drawn to its professional schools.
Regent is best known for law, government, and media and communication arts, with programs built to prepare students for careers where faith and professional life intersect directly -- the Robertson School of Government in particular has a track record of placing graduates into conservative political and legal circles. Divinity and counseling round out its strongest professional programs. A large share of Regent's students, especially at the graduate level, study fully online, which shapes the university's culture and calendar as much as its traditional undergraduate offerings do.
The Georgian brick campus is compact and largely residential-feeling despite the university's much larger total enrollment, since most students beyond the undergraduate college study remotely. Chapel and campus ministries are a visible part of weekly life, and the CBN studios next door give students in communications and media production genuine access to a working broadcast operation rather than just classroom simulations.
Applicants can expect attention to alignment with the university's Christian mission alongside academic credentials, with essays and interviews sometimes probing spiritual commitment as directly as academic goals. The law and government programs in particular draw students interested in faith-informed public service and policy careers, and those programs tend to be more selective than Regent's overall undergraduate admission.
Graduates often move into law, government, ministry, ministry-adjacent nonprofit work, and Christian media, drawing on Regent's campus ties to CBN and its Washington-adjacent government program. The alumni network is concentrated in these faith-aligned professional fields rather than spread evenly across industries, which is a real asset for students headed into them and less relevant for those who aren't.
The shared campus with a major Christian broadcaster is a distinctive feature, offering media and production opportunities uncommon at most universities of Regent's size. The large online and graduate student population means the residential undergraduate community is considerably smaller and more intimate than the university's total enrollment figures suggest.
