The University of La Verne is a private university east of Los Angeles with historical roots in the Church of the Brethren, though its religious affiliation is no longer a defining feature of daily campus life. It serves a largely Hispanic and first-generation student body and has built its identity around small classes and close mentoring relationships between students and faculty.
Business, education, and legal studies are the university's core strengths, and La Verne is distinctive among schools its size for operating its own law school, giving pre-law students a direct institutional pathway and access to law faculty and resources not typical at a college of this scale.
The setting east of Los Angeles keeps students within reach of the broader LA job and internship market while the campus itself maintains a smaller, more personal feel than a large urban university.
The mentoring-focused, small-class culture and the on-campus law school are the two features that most distinguish La Verne from other regional private universities in Southern California.
