Overview

Harding University is a private university in Searcy, Arkansas, affiliated with the Churches of Christ, where daily chapel and faith commitments are a structural part of student life rather than an optional extra. It's one of the larger Church of Christ-affiliated universities nationally, giving it a stronger institutional identity within that denomination than most comparably sized Christian colleges.

Academics

Harding runs large international mission and study-abroad programs, a defining feature of the undergraduate experience for a substantial share of students, alongside solid pre-professional tracks in nursing, education, business, and pharmacy. The pharmacy program in particular is a notable professional pipeline for a university of its size.

Campus & student life

Chapel attendance and Churches of Christ-aligned expectations shape daily campus rhythm, and the Searcy setting keeps the university somewhat insulated from a larger city, reinforcing a close, faith-centered community. Study-abroad participation is unusually high compared to peer institutions, with many students spending a semester at Harding's overseas campuses.

Getting in

Harding's application looks for genuine alignment with its Churches of Christ faith commitments alongside academic preparation, and daily chapel attendance is presented as an expectation students commit to, not a suggestion.

After graduation

Nursing, education, business, and pharmacy graduates place well regionally, and the large study-abroad and mission program network gives Harding alumni an unusually broad set of international connections for a school its size, particularly within Churches of Christ mission and ministry circles.

Worth knowing

The daily chapel requirement and the scale of the study-abroad program are both bigger commitments than at most Christian universities; a student should understand chapel is a genuine daily expectation, not a once-a-week formality.
