Russell Sage College operates across campuses in Troy and Albany, New York, with roots as a pioneering women's college. The Troy undergraduate campus remained women-focused for over a century before the college fully merged its campuses and went coeducational.
Health sciences and nursing are core strengths, alongside education and psychology, reflecting the practical, professionally oriented degree paths the college has long emphasized. These programs serve the Capital Region's hospitals, schools, and clinics directly.
The women's college history remains a point of institutional identity even after the shift to full coeducation, and the split Troy/Albany campus structure gives students access to two distinct small-city settings in New York's Capital Region rather than one.
