Penn State DuBois is one of Penn State's smaller Commonwealth Campuses, set in the forested hills of west-central Pennsylvania. It offers a mix of complete two-year and four-year degrees on-site, including niche programs like wildlife technology and occupational therapy assistant, alongside 2+2 pathways that let students start at DuBois and finish their degree at University Park or another Penn State campus.
The applied, technical programs like wildlife technology take advantage of the campus's rural, forested surroundings for hands-on fieldwork, while students on the 2+2 track take the same introductory coursework as University Park students at a smaller scale before transferring in as juniors.
The small campus serves a mostly regional, commuter-influenced student population in a rural setting, offering a quieter, lower-cost alternative to University Park's scale while still carrying the Penn State name and degree.
Students should decide up front whether they plan to stay at DuBois for a complete degree or use it as a 2+2 stepping stone to a larger Penn State campus, since program availability differs between the two paths.
