Rutgers-Camden is the southern New Jersey campus of the state's flagship public university system, located directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. It offers a Rutgers degree at a smaller-campus scale than the flagship New Brunswick campus, drawing heavily from South Jersey and the greater Philadelphia region.
Business, nursing, and criminal justice are strong undergraduate draws, and the campus is also home to a Rutgers law school, giving Camden a legal-education presence not found at every regional campus. Class sizes tend to be smaller than at the main Rutgers campus, a frequent selling point for students who want the Rutgers name at a smaller scale.
The campus is compact and urban, embedded in the city of Camden with easy access to Philadelphia via a short transit ride, and the population includes a substantial commuter contingent alongside residential students.
Admission generally follows the broader Rutgers system's process, though Camden as a specific campus is typically somewhat less selective than the New Brunswick flagship.
Graduates place regionally into the Philadelphia-South Jersey job market, with the law school carrying real weight in the regional legal profession.
