Meredith College is a private women's college in Raleigh, one of the largest women's colleges left in the Southeast. It combines a traditional liberal-arts core with career-oriented majors, set inside the university and research resources of North Carolina's Research Triangle.
Education, business, and the sciences are Meredith's strongest programs, and the college's StrongPoints coaching model pairs every student with an advisor trained to help her identify and build on her particular strengths, not just pick a major. Class sizes are small, and the Raleigh location makes internships at nearby companies, hospitals, and government agencies a normal part of the undergraduate experience rather than a special opportunity.
The campus is residential and self-contained within Raleigh, giving students a traditional small-college feel with a capital city's resources close by. Women's-college traditions run deep — ring dinners, class colors, and other rituals tied to the college's history are part of student culture — and cross-registration and social ties with nearby coed campuses widen the social scene beyond Meredith itself.
Meredith reviews applications holistically and tends to look favorably on demonstrated leadership and community involvement, consistent with a college that markets itself on developing women leaders specifically.
Education and business graduates place well across the Triangle's school districts and corporate employers, and the college's alumnae network is particularly strong within North Carolina professional and civic circles.
As a women's college, Meredith's social and institutional culture is genuinely built around single-sex education rather than incidental to it — a fit consideration for prospective students weighing it against coed alternatives in the same region.
