Pitt-Greensburg is a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh, located in Westmoreland County east of the city. It offers Pitt degrees within a much smaller, more residential setting than the Pittsburgh campus, with small classes as the main trade-off for the flagship's name.
Programs concentrate in the liberal arts, sciences, and nursing, with class sizes considerably smaller than the same subjects would have on Pitt's main campus. Students earn the same University of Pittsburgh degree, and some majors not offered at Greensburg can be completed by transitioning to the Pittsburgh campus partway through.
The campus is green and residential, set in a smaller Westmoreland County community rather than an urban core, giving it a quieter, more contained undergraduate experience than Pitt's main campus. Pittsburgh itself remains within driving distance for students who want access to a larger city.
Pitt-Greensburg functions as an intentionally smaller-scale entry point into the University of Pittsburgh system, and students considering it should understand which majors are fully available there versus which require moving to the Pittsburgh campus to complete.
