Overview
Carroll College is a Catholic diocesan college in Helena, Montana, the state capital, set against a mountain-ringed backdrop. It is small, mission-driven, and academically more rigorous than its size might suggest, with a reputation among Montana families for sending graduates on to strong professional and graduate outcomes.
Academics
Pre-med and other health-science tracks are unusually strong for a college this size, with high rates of acceptance into medical and health-professional graduate programs cited by the college as a point of pride. Carroll also offers a rare undergraduate anthrozoology major focused on human-animal studies, a distinctive offering not found at most colleges. Class sizes are small and faculty-student contact is close.
Campus & student life
Athletics carry real weight on campus: the Saints football program is a perennial power in NAIA competition and a unifying point of school spirit. The Helena setting offers immediate access to mountains and outdoor recreation, and the college's Catholic identity shapes campus ministry and community life without dominating the academic program.
Getting in
Carroll's Catholic diocesan affiliation and health-science reputation draw a mix of religiously affiliated students and pre-health applicants specifically targeting its strong placement record, and the college is known to take a genuinely holistic look at applicants rather than screening primarily on test scores.
Worth knowing
The anthrozoology major is a genuine rarity in undergraduate education and draws students from well outside Montana specifically for that program.
