Seton Hill University is a private Catholic university in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, east of Pittsburgh, founded by the Sisters of Charity. It has grown from a women's college into a coeducational university known for a distinctive mix of health sciences, art and design, and specialized humanities programs.
Health sciences and art and design are the university's largest and best-regarded program areas. Less expected is its genocide and Holocaust studies program, a genuine academic specialty rare among schools this size, alongside a notable graduate and undergraduate popular-fiction writing program that has built a real reputation among aspiring genre novelists.
The Greensburg campus sits close enough to Pittsburgh for city access while keeping a small, traditional college feel of its own. Catholic identity and the Sisters of Charity's founding mission remain visible in campus life without dominating it for non-Catholic students.
Admission is holistic, and the popular-fiction writing program in particular tends to draw applicants specifically for that niche who might not otherwise consider a school of Seton Hill's size and profile.
The combination of art/design, health sciences, and genocide studies under one small university roof is unusual, and the popular-fiction writing concentration is a genuine draw for students with a specific creative-writing interest rather than a broad English degree.
