Indiana University of Pennsylvania is one of the larger schools in Pennsylvania's state system, located in the small town of Indiana northeast of Pittsburgh, with a traditional residential campus and a broad range of undergraduate programs.
Education, criminology, and nursing are long-standing strengths, and the university also offers a notable culinary arts program, an unusual addition for a state-system school. A long-established honors college provides smaller seminars and added support for stronger students within a larger university.
The campus anchors a small town, and student life centers on residence halls, Greek organizations, and a fairly traditional college-town social scene rather than urban amenities.
Admissions is access-oriented and not highly selective, though the honors college has its own separate, more competitive application track for students seeking a smaller-cohort experience.
The honors college is a genuine option for a student who wants IUP's affordability and program breadth but a more intimate academic experience within it.
