William Peace University sits at the edge of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. It was a women's college for most of its history and became fully coeducational in the 2010s, and it has built its current identity around career preparation more than a traditional liberal arts model, with the North Carolina capital's employers within easy reach for internships.
Business and education are established programs, and simulation and game design has emerged as a distinctive offering, a less common program for a college this size. Internships are built directly into the curriculum for most majors rather than left as an optional add-on, taking advantage of Raleigh's presence as a state capital and growing business hub.
The compact campus sits close enough to downtown Raleigh that students can walk to much of what the city offers, giving a small college campus feel with a city's resources close by.
Admission is holistic and relatively accessible, with the university emphasizing career readiness and practical fit over a highly competitive academic screen.
The relatively recent shift to full coeducation and the career-first repositioning mean the university's current identity is fairly different from its long history as a women's college, worth knowing since some external perceptions may lag the current reality.
