Overview
The University of Denver is a private research university set in a residential neighborhood of Denver, combining research-university scale with a smaller, more personal undergraduate culture than its size might suggest.
Academics
The Josef Korbel School of International Studies is DU's most nationally recognized program, alongside a strong business school and one of the country's most established hospitality management programs. DU runs on a quarter system with fast-paced, roughly ten-week terms rather than semesters, which changes the pacing of coursework noticeably from most peer schools.
Campus & student life
The Rocky Mountain setting supports a strong study-ski culture — skiing and mountain access are a real part of student life, not incidental to it. Pioneers hockey is a perennial national championship contender and the clear center of DU's athletics culture and school spirit, filling a role that football or basketball plays elsewhere.
Getting in
Admission is holistic, with DU drawing a national and increasingly international applicant pool interested specifically in its international-studies and business strengths as much as its Colorado location.
After graduation
Korbel graduates have a strong record moving into foreign service, international development, and global business roles, and the alumni network in Denver's business community is a real asset for business-school graduates locally.
Worth knowing
The quarter system is a genuine adjustment for students used to semesters — courses move faster and finals come around three times a year instead of two, which suits some students and not others.

- A chance band (Far Reach to Likely) calibrated against real admitted-student data — published test-score ranges and, where a school reports them, Common Data Set GPA profiles — with plain-English reasons.
- A fit breakdown across testing, grades, course rigor, activities, and honors, side by side with the numbers the school publishes.
- Deadline countdowns where verified application dates are on file.
