UNH Manchester is the University of New Hampshire's small urban campus, located in a renovated historic mill building on the Merrimack River in the state's largest city. It serves commuter and transfer students with the full UNH degree delivered at a smaller, city-based scale than the main Durham campus.
Biotechnology, business, and computing programs are the clearest strengths, with direct ties to the Millyard's cluster of technology and biotech employers that grew up around the same mill buildings the campus occupies; internship and job connections to those nearby employers are a practical advantage of the location.
The Manchester campus is compact and urban rather than a traditional quad-and-dorm setup, and much of the student population commutes rather than lives on campus, giving it a different social rhythm than the Durham campus even though degrees, faculty, and UNH identity are shared across both.
A student earns the same UNH degree here as in Durham, but should expect a much smaller, commuter-oriented campus experience without the large-scale residential and athletic culture of the main campus — a deliberate tradeoff for students who want an urban, employer-connected setting instead.
