Penn State Shenango is one of Penn State's smaller Commonwealth Campuses, located in Sharon in far western Pennsylvania near the Ohio border. It serves primarily local, commuting students and functions as an entry point into the Penn State system rather than a self-contained four-year destination for most majors.
Most students start their first two years at Shenango taking general education and lower-level major coursework before transitioning to University Park or another larger Penn State campus to finish a bachelor's degree, the standard Commonwealth Campus model. A handful of career-focused associate and bachelor's programs can be completed on-site without transferring.
The tradeoff for a smaller campus and lower local cost of attendance is that most students will need to relocate partway through their degree. Students hoping to finish entirely in Sharon should confirm which specific programs Shenango offers start-to-finish before enrolling.
