The University of Nebraska Medical Center is Nebraska's public academic health sciences center, based in Omaha, and functions primarily as a graduate and professional institution, with schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and public health among others.
Undergraduate offerings are narrow and concentrated in nursing and allied health fields, delivered across several Nebraska campuses rather than one traditional undergraduate campus. Students in these programs study alongside a major academic medical center's graduate and professional trainees.
This is not a typical four-year undergraduate destination; students considering UNMC should be specifically pursuing nursing or an allied-health credential, since the broader campus culture and resources are oriented around graduate medical education and research rather than undergraduate life.
