The University of Maine at Augusta is the University of Maine System's access-oriented campus, based in the state capital with a second site in Bangor and a substantial population of online and distance students. It is built around serving adult learners and commuters rather than a traditional residential undergraduate population.
Nursing, cybersecurity, and other applied, workforce-oriented fields are the most established programs, and the university is also home to one of the few architecture programs in Maine, a notable offering for a campus of its size and access-focused mission.
A large share of UMA's students take courses partly or entirely online, and the campus culture reflects that flexibility-first design — a good fit for adult students balancing work and family, not a traditional residential college search option.
