Montana State University Billings is a regional public university in Montana's largest city, serving primarily in-state students who want a four-year education without leaving the state's main commercial hub. It operates alongside a two-year City College division for applied and technical training under the same institutional roof.
Education, business, health professions, and the liberal arts are the university's core undergraduate programs, and the City College division gives students a direct path between technical or associate credentials and four-year degrees without transferring institutions.
The combined four-year university and two-year City College structure is a distinctive feature — students can start in a technical or applied program and move into a bachelor's degree at the same institution, a more integrated pathway than most states offer.
