Overview
Merrimack is a private Catholic college in North Andover, Massachusetts, run in the Augustinian tradition, roughly 25 miles north of Boston. It has expanded substantially over the past decade, adding graduate programs, new academic schools, and a move up to Division I athletics, shifting its identity from a small regional college toward a larger, more ambitious institution while retaining a career-focused, practical bent.
Academics
Business, engineering, and health sciences are the programs most students associate with Merrimack, delivered with an applied, outcomes-oriented approach rather than a research-university feel. The college has added programs steadily as it has grown, including newer offerings in data science and health professions, and internships are woven into most majors.
Campus & student life
The campus is a traditional New England setting, wooded and suburban, a distance from Boston but close enough for students to reach the city. Division I athletics, particularly hockey, has become a bigger part of campus identity since the move up from Division II/III, giving the college a more visible athletic presence than its size would suggest. Catholic identity is present but not heavily enforced day to day.
Getting in
Merrimack is moderately selective and evaluates applicants holistically with attention to fit for its professional programs; the college has actively grown its applicant pool and student body in recent years as part of its broader expansion.
After graduation
Career preparation and internship placement are emphasized throughout the curriculum, with graduates going into business, healthcare, and engineering roles across the Boston-to-southern-New Hampshire corridor.

- A chance band (Far Reach to Likely) calibrated against real admitted-student data — published test-score ranges and, where a school reports them, Common Data Set GPA profiles — with plain-English reasons.
- A fit breakdown across testing, grades, course rigor, activities, and honors, side by side with the numbers the school publishes.
- Deadline countdowns where verified application dates are on file.
