King's College is a private Catholic college in downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross — the same order behind the University of Notre Dame — originally to educate the sons of coal miners. That access-oriented mission still shapes the college's identity today.
Physician assistant studies is a particularly well-regarded program, alongside solid offerings in business and education. Class sizes are small, and the college leans practical, with a curriculum oriented toward direct career preparation more than a purely theoretical liberal arts approach.
The campus sits in downtown Wilkes-Barre, giving students an urban-adjacent setting unusual for a college this size in northeastern Pennsylvania. Catholic identity, shaped by the Holy Cross order, is present in campus culture without being the dominant force in student life.
Admission is holistic and relatively accessible, consistent with the college's founding mission of educating students — historically the sons of coal miners — who might not have otherwise had access to a four-year degree.
The physician assistant program has strong regional placement, and King's overall sends a solid share of graduates into health care and business roles across northeastern Pennsylvania.
