Overview

Catholic International University, based in West Virginia and formerly known as Catholic Distance University, is a Catholic institution built around distance education rather than a residential campus. It offers online degrees in theology, catechetics, liberal arts, and education, rooted explicitly in Church teaching.

Academics

Because it is fundamentally an online, distance-learning institution, coursework is designed for adult learners and working professionals, including many pursuing catechetical certification or theological formation alongside other work or ministry roles rather than a traditional full-time undergraduate load.

Worth knowing

There is essentially no residential campus experience here; students should expect an online-first model built for flexibility around outside jobs and family responsibilities, closer in feel to other faith-based distance programs than to a traditional Catholic liberal-arts college.
