Franklin University is a private nonprofit university in downtown Columbus, Ohio, built specifically around working adults, transfer students, and online learners rather than students coming directly from high school. Its model emphasizes flexibility — evening, weekend, and online formats — over a traditional residential college experience.
Business, information technology, and health-care administration are the university's core degree areas, taught with an explicitly career-focused, applied curriculum. Franklin is known for generous transfer-credit policies and community-college articulation agreements, and many programs are designed to be completed while working full-time.
Admission is geared toward accessibility rather than selectivity, with a process built to accommodate transfer students and adult learners whose academic records may not resemble a traditional high schooler's.
Franklin is not built for a conventional campus experience — dorms, athletics, and a traditional undergraduate social scene are not central to it. It suits a student who is also working, has significant transfer credit, or wants an online-first degree from a nonprofit rather than a for-profit institution.
