Southern Nazarene University is a private Christian university in Bethany, Oklahoma, on the western edge of the Oklahoma City metro area, affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene. It combines a traditional residential undergraduate campus with degree-completion programs aimed at working adults, giving it a dual character as both a conventional four-year Christian college and an adult-education provider.
The university's strongest programs are in nursing, business, and ministry, reflecting both its practical bent and its denominational roots, with education as another established offering. Bible and theology coursework is part of the traditional undergraduate experience alongside major coursework.
Campus life follows an evangelical Christian rhythm of chapel and community worship, with a residential core student population supplemented by a larger population of adult and online students who rarely set foot on the Bethany campus. Its location just outside Oklahoma City gives residential students access to a large metro area without the isolation of a more rural Christian college.
The split between the traditional campus and the adult-completion side of the university is significant — a meaningful share of SNU's enrollment and program offerings are built around working adults finishing degrees, not full-time residential undergraduates.
