SMT is a large, student-run math tournament held each spring at Stanford, with team, power, guts, and individual subject rounds, plus a separate online edition open worldwide to middle and high schoolers. Teams of 5-6 students from the same school apply online, with some spots reserved for top teams from the prior year and for low-income/underrepresented applicants, and the rest awarded by lottery.
