MIT's Women's Technology Program is a four-week, on-campus introduction to electrical engineering/computer science or mechanical engineering for young women finishing 11th grade who have little or no prior engineering background. You take classes, work on team projects, and live on campus with current MIT students as mentors, with a laptop loaned free of charge if you need one. The program uses a sliding-scale fee based on family income, from no cost up to $20,000, plus additional financial aid if even the scaled fee would be a hardship. Applying requires a transcript, three short essays, and two teacher recommendations (one math, one science).
