The Discovery Program is a paid, full-time internship for graduating high school seniors about to start a bachelor's degree, who work on hands-on projects inside real Microsoft product teams rather than taking a course. It runs four consecutive weeks on-site each July, at either the Redmond, WA campus or in the Atlanta, GA area. Eligibility is narrower than just living nearby: Redmond applicants must live within 50 miles of campus, attend high school there, and belong to one of a handful of partner community organizations (Computing for All, College Success Foundations, Washington MESA, Rainier Scholars, Technology Access Foundation, or the UW STEM program); Atlanta applicants must attend high school in Atlanta Public Schools or Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, or Gwinnett County. All applicants must have completed pre-calculus or an equivalent course. It costs nothing to attend and participants are paid for their time.
