Classes or teams invest a virtual $100,000 in stocks, bonds and mutual funds over a multi-week simulation each fall and spring, competing within a high school division against other student portfolios nationwide. A teacher registers the class online; the program is available nationwide at no cost or low cost, depending on state and sponsor. The program has run since 1977 and has served nearly 20 million students to date.
