The National Youth Science Camp brings two selected delegates from every U.S. state (and D.C.) to three weeks of hands-on science, engineering, and outdoor leadership programming in West Virginia's Monongahela National Forest. Delegates hear from working STEM professionals, run mini-research projects, and take part in high-adventure outdoor activities alongside peers chosen the same way from every other state. Transportation, housing, and meals are covered at no cost. Each state runs its own selection process — most select via online application, though a few (including Florida, Georgia, and Massachusetts) select through state science fairs — so students apply during senior year through their state's NYSCamp coordinator and attend the summer after graduation.
