Fred Hutch Cancer Center's Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP) places students entering their senior year into a Fred Hutch research lab for eight weeks, after two weeks of lab-safety and technique training. Interns work five days a week, up to 40 hours, attend research seminars and college/career workshops, and close the summer with a presentation to the Fred Hutch community. There's no tuition cost, interns receive a financial award for completing the program plus a free ORCA transit card, and it's a full-time, in-person commitment limited to students who live in the Greater Seattle area (no out-of-state or international applicants). 2027 dates and the application are posted in November.
